The Showcase
Each year we produce a showcase featuring performances by Black actors, musicians, poets, and dancers. Selected through both public callouts and our network of leading Black artists, approximately 120 Black creatives participate in this showcase, which will be a collaborative effort. This year's showcase will be based on the 2024 Black History Month theme, "Black Resistance." This event aims to dismantle prejudices, make the arts more accessible to the Black community, and celebrate Black artists' contributions. It will also provide networking opportunities with industry leaders, casting directors, talent agencies, and creative directors who can offer paid work.
Community Painting Workshops
For Black History Month we will be hosting a special community painting workshop centred on the theme of "Black Joy". Held in collaboration with Sip & Paint MCR & Aviva Studios our monthly painting workshops which typically hosts 120 attendees offers a relaxed and creative atmosphere where participants can enjoy a guided painting session, connect with fellow community members, and unleash their artistic potential.
Development Workshops
As part of our 2024 programme, we will deliver a full day workshop to help creatives learn how to navigate the industry. This will include talks on finding sources of funding, marketing yourself and negotiating contracts as a creative. It will later break out into sector specific roundtables and end with one on one clinics for creatives to ask experts questions specific to their needs
Open Mic Nights
Held in collaboration with BlackOwned Studios + Marketplace, our open mic nights provide an exciting platform for up-and-coming creatives to showcase their talents. From music and poetry to comedy and spoken word, performers have the opportunity to present their work to a supportive audience and gain valuable exposure.
